UK Heavy Equipment Transporter

The UK MOD required a heavy equipment transport capability to move main battle tanks and other armoured vehicles in support of operational, training and logistics requirements.

The programme required a robust tank transporter solution capable of supporting demanding military use, while also being backed by long-term technical, maintenance and spares support throughout the life of the fleet.

King supported the UK Heavy Equipment Transporter programme from concept through to supply and ongoing in-service support. King manufactured and supplied 89 HET trailers for the UK MOD, with a further 12 units supplied for the Canadian military. The programme included testing and loading trials at Bulford, proving the transporter’s ability to support heavy armour movements in realistic operating conditions. King continues to support the UK HET fleet through Level 3 and Level 4 maintenance, ongoing spares supply, technical support and obsolescence management. Where parts are no longer available, King supports the identification, development and integration of suitable replacement solutions to maintain fleet availability. The completed programme delivered, and continues to support, a critical UK heavy armour logistics capability, helping keep the HET fleet available for operational and training requirements.
