 The Opportunity:

The King Group of Companies has been providing cost effective transport equipment solutions worldwide for more than 55 years and are part of the Martin Group of Companies.

The King Rail division was established to provide products and services to rail maintenance contractors. The product range includes new on-track plant conversions, upgrades to existing equipment and a range of Road Rail Vehicles.

Reporting to the Rail Manager, the successful candidate will work with the current design engineer to produce the technical specifications and design for rail vehicles and associated equipment.

Responsibility and Duties:

  • To work with the existing team to produce designs for new rail equipment and modifications to current rail fleet.
  • To ensure all legislative and safety criteria are met and adhered to.
  • To produce technical drawings using both 2D and 3D software.
  • To produce technical calculations to support the design and decision-making process.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Proficient in the use of Solidworks 3D CAD Software.
  • Good time management skills with an ability to prioritise workload.
  • Good technical understanding of an engineering environment.
  • Fabrication design experience an advantage.
  • Experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and 12/24v electrical systems desirable.
  • Ability to develop and produce calculations to support design.
  • Able to work as part of a team and/or on your own initiative.
  • Be able to produce technical drawings for manufacture.
  • Portrays enthusiasm, passion and ambition with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • The ability to liaise with colleagues and customers using good communication skills.
